News…

Father Emmanuel will go on a week’s  private annual Retreat which will see him away from the parish from 20th Nov -  26th Nov. The weekly programme of services will remain the same as usual. 

 

Appeal: Donations of unused sleeping bags continue to be gratefully received. Please drop them off at the church so we can arrange to get these to St Catharine’s Convent in Edinburgh to support those in need. Also, warm clothing is required for the people of Ukraine – Tony is collecting these on behalf of the Rotary Club of Linlithgow and Bo’ness. Again, just drop them off in the church hall. Many thanks.

 

Storehouse and Salvation Army will again be supplying Christmas dinners to those in need. Weare providing the sweet for the meal (Christmas puddings, mince pies, rice pudding, custard, cream trifle etc.). Also, cranberry sauce and any new unopened toys or, if you wish, a monetary donation. Any donations by Sunday 7th December please. Thank you.

 

Prayer services at the cemeteries – as we have done in previous years there will be a short prayer service New Carriden Cemetery today ( 16th November) after the morning Mass.

 

Victory: A day to explore the gift of confession - The Church instructs us to go to confession - Why? If you'd like to deepen your understanding of this limitless gift join the Archdiocese on Saturday 22 November, 10:00am-3:45pm at St Patrick's, 30 Low Craigends, Kilsyth, G65 0PF, for a day hosted by the Catechetics Commission - its first 'on the road' event. The day includes talks, testimony, and an opportunity for Confession. There is also Mass ahead of the event at 9:30am. Register on Eventbrite at bit.ly/returntoconfession

 

Meetings – The Finance and Fabric and Health and Safety Committees will meet after the 10am Mass on Sunday 7th December.

 

St Andrew’s Night: our annual celebration of Scotland’s patron saint will take place at 7pm on Friday 28th November. All are very welcome to join us, but if you’d like to stay for a fish supper afterwards, please purchase a ticket which is now available in the church hall. 

 

Collections: The collection last week amounted to £427.65 and the special collection for ‘The Day of the Poor’ raised £358.50 Thank you to all donors.

 

The Children’s Liturgy will return at 10am Mass on Sunday 30th November – the First Sunday of Advent.
